They came to my attention through the release of their latest single, Dead Man Carry Me which is receiving much airplay in South Africa at the moment. It's foot-tapping, catchy stuff. It starts off with a very David Byrne-ish style riff and verse and heads into a Killers-like chorus.

Apparently, Jars of Clay is reference to 2 Corinthians 4:7, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."
Which places Jars of Clay in the Christian band category with Sixpence None The Richer and Tree63. Who knew that P.O.D. was in an extension of this category?

Also didn't realise POD were in that category.I believe Lifehouse also fallin that category - or so I have been told.
I did know Jars of Clay - they did a song from the (music inspired by)Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack ('Waiting for the world to fall' its called) - its a fairly good song if you like their other stuff.
Dave: Alive is one of my favourite tracks. Really big POD fan. Cool vid.
Triggermap: Listened to "Waiting for the world to fall." OK track. But the new album seems really good. The title track, "Good Monsters" is very good.
Lifehouse is indeed from the same school of 'crossover' groups.
Jars of Clay - what an awesome group. They were also featured on a Taylor guitar top musicians album in the late nineties.
I saw them when they were out in SA - they were better live, despite shcoking sound at the venue - very talented and humble bunch of dudes.
And POD's Alive rocks my socks...
